The program UCAM Capacitas the job training for young people with intellectual disabilities Unveils business project
The Catholic University of Murcia UCAM held this afternoon the First Day Company, Disability and Social Inclusion, organized by the University Capacitas program.
The symposium were invited representatives of different companies such as El Corte Ingles, MAPFRE, Hero, Banco Santander, Hotel AC or Ferrovial, among others, and associations like ASSIDO, Fundown or ASTRAPACE.
The aim was to raise awareness of the work being done by the UCAM with this program, dedicated to job training for youth with intellectual disabilities, as well as inform, raise awareness and attract entrepreneurs who want to collaborate with the project, both in the practicum course close as with the supported employment program.
On the day intervened Capacitas program students of the University, which have had their experience during the first year of the project, which began last September.
Also have testified Promentor program alumni from the Autonomous University of Madrid, an initiative that was exported to the UCAM.
These students already on the workforce in companies like Prosegur, Canon or Banco Santander, after training at the university, have told them what it's supposed to find a job and their career prospects.
In addition, the day has participated UCAM president, who stressed the success of this first year Capacitas and "joy which is to help these young people find a livelihood."
Meanwhile, Maria del Mar Pintado, director of the chair of the program, explained that the university gives young people the training to social inclusion, but "it is companies must take the step of hiring" .

Also, the president of Capacitas program chair, Antonio Montoro, said that thanks to the day, employers have been able to "see first hand" students of the program which may offer a job later.
The UCAM and Gmp has pueston Foundation launched this course Capacitas Program, through the Chair in German Montoro, whose main objective is to provide adequate job training for young people with intellectual disabilities aged 18 to 30 years, adjusted for differences individual, to enable them to labor inclusion in ordinary companies, as well as provide the necessary support for workers with intellectual disabilities to achieve independent living participating as full members in their community.
With the implementation of this training program is made possible, in addition, the presence of standardized youth with intellectual disabilities in an environment rare as that of the University.
