Conference on Occupational Health and Safety in Civil Engineering (02/05/2013)

The Minister of Education, Training and Employment of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia has opened the Day

The Catholic University of Murcia UCAM held this afternoon a workshop on Prevention of Occupational Risks in Civil Engineering organized by the Civil Engineering Degree from the University Institution in collaboration with the College of Public Works Engineers and Civil Engineers Murcia.

During the opening of the symposium, which addressed issues such as the importance of integrating health and safety during processing of the project or Criminal responsibilities on Prevention of Occupational Risks, intervened the Minister of Education, Training and Employment CARM, Constantine Sotoca, the Dean of the Civil Engineering Degree UCAM, Pedro de los Santos, the Vice President for Research at the University, Estrella Nunez, and the dean of the College of Public Works Engineers of Murcia, Manuel Camacho.

The Dean of the Civil Engineering Degree UCAM, Pedro de los Santos, stressed the falls as the most common accidents in civil engineering, and stated, that although they have reduced the number of accidents, this should continue to decline.

For his part, Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Sotoca Constantine, has highlighted the importance of these sessions.

"Over the years there have been many efforts on the part of employers, workers, professionals and has come a long way in prevention," said Constantine Sotoca also added that "We have to keep pushing safety and health in the workplace, and we must ensure that security is fully integrated in the production process of a company, and that employers consider that what they are doing is an investment, not an expense. "
