The Aquarium of the University of Murcia opens its doors for over 60 years (25/04/2013)

Those over age 60 and belonging to a day center can visit the aquarium free from the University of Murcia on Friday April 26 at the usual time: 10-14 hours and 17-21.

Located in one of the pavilions of the former artillery barracks, the Aquarium of the University of Murcia, aims to facilitate the general public approach to the marine environment.

The Aquarium is a useful source of learning, thanks to the use of the large amount of learning resources available.

It has two floors that can take a tour of the most characteristic ecosystems tropical and Mediterranean sea.

Beyond mere exposure, Aquarium of the University of Murcia is a center dedicated to education, research and conservation, developing and working in conservation and recovery of endangered species, both in our region and outside her.

An observatory of marine ecosystems around the world

In tropical aquariums in detail represent ecosystems of the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea.

In them you can see many of these habitats and organisms reef sharks, angelfish, stingrays, moray eels, live corals, etc.., And the relationships between them.

In the Mediterranean area can learn about a part of our marine tanks nearest representing environments from surface areas with anemones, salps, wrasse, flounder, etc.., To deeper areas background with sharks, dogfish, etc..

These tanks can be seen to the mechanisms of reproduction of these sharks and the different stages of embryonic development.
