IU-Greens proposed to move the nursery 'Peace' to school 'Our Lady of Peace' (24/04/2013)

The municipal group of IU-Greens in the city of Murcia has filed a motion in Parliament tomorrow urging the government team studying legal formulas to locate the nursery 'Peace' in the school nursery and primary education 'Our Lady of Peace'.

This was announced today IU-Greens councilor, José Ignacio Tornel, who explained that the said infant school was provisionally transferred in 2007 to a site on the Avenue Jeanne Jugan, where even the students are taught in portable classrooms.

Tornel has ensured that this transfer took place to "encourage" the "course" neighborhood rehabilitation project by the promoter Jose Lopez Grids, "that now we know nothing," and shortly thereafter proceeded to demolish original facility, a performance that was "not a report that the warrant".

"All this is now immersed in a judicial process that once we've heard," she added the mayor, after recalling that the current installation of the nursery requires continuous maintenance actions and also causes an unstable situation.

In its opinion, the district has lost a "necessary and highly symbolic reference" as was the original school facilities child, who was born over thirty years ago as "childcare worker".

"Any figure of a saint of this city has received better treatment and more attention to this public school, treated with complete disregard."

In this sense, Tornel has chosen to move the school to school 'Our Lady of Peace', as proposed by the Neighborhood Association and Caritas, because this center has spaces and classrooms large enough to accommodate the permanent seat of the school .

He has also criticized that while infant school pupils are taught in "barracks", the City Council gave public spaces such as the school of El Carmen to private entities, in a "blatant and shameful".

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the municipal, Esther Herguedas, presented an initiative to suspend the application of the requirement of public money for the assignment of spaces assigned to the area of culture for associations lacking profit.

Herguedas noted that the measure responds to "collection effort" of the City, which becomes public facilities in space for a "commercial purpose" and also produces a "negative effect" on the activities of these organizations and even their very existence as Most lack the economic capacity.
