The Convention Bureau City of Murcia has organized a day to raise awareness of tourism conferences, events and meetings to students in the School of Tourism of Murcia.

Councillor for Sport, Youth and Tourism, Miguel Cascales, inaugurated the day which highlighted the efforts of the City to promote conference tourism as an economic and employment generator in the municipality.

The mayor recalled that in 2011 meetings were held with 148 797 1,113 enrollees, generating an economic impact of 31 million euros.

Lawmakers are visitors more money left in the city where the event is held, with an average of 200 per day; encourage hotel occupancy and usually return to the city with family and friends.

In this morning's session was attended by the Chief of the Office of Conferences, Ramon Palazón, the president of the Association of Partners Collaborating Convention Bureau City of Murcia, president of the Consortium for the Advancement of Murcia hotel and hotel manager Arco de San Juan, Jesus Pacheco, the director of Cedes Congresses, Events and Tourism Services, Teresa Díez, and the director of Noved Events, Ricardo Zamora.

This activity is part of the planned to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the Convention Bureau, with the aim of promoting conference tourism.
