Camera: "The legitimate aspirations of the city of Murcia is that the tracks disappear" (11/04/2013)

The Mayor holds a meeting with chairpersons and members of the neighborhoods and districts affected by burial plan.

Reiterates that it is a strategic decision and immovable condition, which coincides with the position forwarded by the City Government and Regional Development.

The disappearance of the railway passing through urban areas is a "legitimate aspiration of the city of Murcia" and so has said this morning the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, after the meeting he had with the chairpersons and members of municipal boards affected by the plan of underground railroad tracks.

Specifically, have responded to the Mayor's appointment Nonduermas representatives, Barriomar, Los Dolores, St. Pius X, Santiago El Mayor, Neighborhood Progress, El Carmen and Juan Manuel Infante.

The meeting served to reaffirm the Council's commitment to the fulfillment of the agreement regarding the plenary adopted last October about it.

This commitment established two premises.

On one hand, the inalienable character of the underground routes passing through the city's urban areas, according to the agreement signed by the three governments for the integration of the railway in the city.

Moreover, the resolution of the Corporation collected recourse to a temporary station outside of the underground space to not affect him, so that Murcia had the opportunity to access the AVE on schedule.

Chamber recalled that this is a position that is not only maintained by the municipal government in consensus with other political forces, but is "a determination of the city."

In his opinion, eliminating the tracks passing through urban areas, so as to enable a harmonious and without obstacles posed now the route of the railway "is a strategic decision from the standpoint of sustainable social and economic development of the city. "

So the mayor has insisted that "we will oppose any action involving the burial waiver because the legitimate aspirations of the city of Murcia is that the tracks disappear."

"It is an immutable condition," he added.

This position is the same as transferred to the Secretary of State for Infrastructure and President of ADIF and the same as the Region Government has informed the Ministry of Development.

At present, the City is waiting for the response from the ministry responsible for determining the location where it is possible to establish a temporary station.

"The city of Murcia what you want is the season of Carmen and the burial of the tracks to give continuity to the south by the Mediterranean corridor and that is the commitment of the three administrations," concluded Chamber.
