Land for their contributions in Optics]

Pablo Artal, director and founder of the Laboratory of Optics of the University of Murcia (LOUM), has been awarded the medal Edwin H.

Land granted by the Optical Society of America (OSA its acronym in English) and the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS & T).

Prof. Artal thus becomes the first European to get this award, created in 1992 in honor of the inventor of instant photography and founder of Polaroid, thanks to "his scientific contributions in advancing the development of alternative diagnostic and optical correction visual ".

Artal says "feel very excited about the award of the medal. Consider it the most important prize of my career both as representing the figure of Edwin H. Land, inventor off the charts he had always admired, for the recognition of the work of many years and especially to my idea of ​​what science should be focused on quality and utility. "

The prize is awarded annually by a jury of four members who evaluate candidates from around the world and must be supported by at least five colleagues or institutions.
