A documentary about the women who participated in the drafting of the Constitution to celebrate the March 8 (05/03/2013)

The Department of Equality Policy has organized the screening of the documentary today Olive Acosta 'The Constituents', a work on the history of social and political participation of women in Spain.

These 27 women, 21 deputies and 6 senators, who came to the Spanish Congress and Senate after the Franco period, in the democratic elections of June 15, 1977, and participated in the drafting of the Spanish Constitution of 1978, actively defending equal rights between men and women in Spanish society.

Through the testimonies of the protagonists, and a sequence of contact between deputies and current policies with some of the women constituents, the documentary provides a suggestive analysis, based on personal experience of all, about the events that constitute one of the parliamentarism most interesting stages of our country: the Constituent Cortes in the period 1977-1979, from the perspective of women.

After the documentary was held a round table with the participation Marta González Vázquez, Deputy Corunna spokesman Equality Commission of the Congress of Deputies, M ª Dolores Bolarin Sanchez, Deputy Murcia and president of the Center for Women's San Antolin, and the director and producer of documentary films, Oliva Acosta; moderated by the Councillor for Equality Policies, Alicia Barquero.

This event was held on the occasion of International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8, as a tribute to the women who were part of the constituent legislature of 1977 and worked on the drafting of the 1978 Constitution.
