Cooperation promotes Township NGDOs with activities every month of the year (28/01/2013)

The Department of Development Cooperation, headed Alicia Barquero, continues his year with the promotion of the municipality NGDOs with the project 'Educating developing' by which each month will organize activities, exhibitions, conferences, documentaries, educational and awareness talks, etc., with the presence of NGOs and taking as theme days indicated and the Millennium Development Goals.

This initiative was launched for the first time last year and has been a success due to the high participation of schools, Centers for Women and other associations and organizations.

More than 12,000 students have participated in the municipality proposals.

The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has chosen this project to be presented in Madrid and other municipalities know and what can develop.

Free activities are developed every month, except July and August are the months for completion of the educational activity.

The themes for this year are:

-January.

Month of peace and international peacekeeping missions and humanitarian aid.

On January 30 will receive their awards from painting and essay contest Day of Peace, for school.

On February 1 will be installed on the Malecon military camps where the Security Forces working in peacekeeping and humanitarian work displayed.

-February.

Month dedicated to Education and the Millennium Development Goal 2: "Universal Primary Education: ensure that children / as everyone can complete a full course of primary schooling."

-March.

Month of Gender Equality (March 8), and Water (March 22).

Matches the Millennium Development Goal 3: "Gender equality.

Eliminate gender disparity in all levels of education. "

-April.

Health Month (April 7).

Millennium Development Goal 5, "Improve maternal health.

Reduce by three quarters the maternal mortality and achieve universal access to maternal health. "

-May.

Africa Month (May 25) and Fair Trade Month.

Matches the Millennium Development Goal 8: "Develop a global partnership.

Develop an open trading and financial system ".

-June.

Environment Month (June 5).

It will work on Millennium Development Goal 7: "Environmental sustainability.

Integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies. "

-September.

Cooperating Month.

Traditionally many exhibitions, talks and Cooperating Fair.

-October.

Month to End Poverty (17 October) and Handwashing Day (October 15).

Matches the Millennium Development Goal 1: "Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.

Halving the number of hungry people. "

-November.

Month of the Child (20 November) and Against Gender Violence (25 November).

We will work on the Millennium Development Goals 1: "Reduce child mortality, reduce by two thirds the mortality of children under five years" and MDG 3: "Gender equality.

Eliminate gender disparity in all levels of education. "

-December.

AIDS Month (December 1), month of Human Rights (December 10) and Human Solidarity.

It works the Millennium Development Goal 6: "Combat HIV / AIDS.

Reduce the spread of HIV / AIDS, malaria and other major diseases. "

This initiative involves the Security Forces of the State, Fade, Mullion, Unicef, Red Cross, Operation Solidarity, Blue in Action, Oxfam Intermon and Manos Unidas, among many others.
