The City regulates taxi service during weekends (23/01/2013)

It ensures that the needs of Murcia during the days of most demand are covered and regulates the rest of the workers during the weekend |

The Department of Traffic and Transportation will implement a system of provisional and experimental shifts within the taxi industry and during the weekend and has been agreed with the majority of the sector

This measure aims to regularize the situation and offer service users a minimum of taxis circulating in the village thus ensuring that the needs of Murcia during times of peak demand are covered.

Thus, 50% of the taxi fleet (formerly stipulated mandatory 25%) will have to work during the weekends, settling two shifts: from 22 pm on Friday until 14 am Saturday and 14 hours on Saturday at 6 pm on Sunday.

Furthermore, according to the majority of industry associations, has set a timetable for the various shifts, to be revolving, which includes working days for licensed vehicles pair and they will license the odd.

It also regulates the rest of the workers during the weekend because, when it is not your turn, will have to make a day of rest, ensuring the safety of the driver and taxi users.

This ensures that slots higher demand for public transport services are covered.

Measures similar to this, it has been agreed with the majority Radiotaxi associations, Fedetaxi and Taxi Union, have already been implemented in other cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Granada.
