Antonio Diaz school, situated in the hamlet of Los Garres Murcia, today received a visit from the Councillor for the Environment, Adela Martinez-grip, and the mayor of Education, Maria Dolores Sanchez, to discover a ceramic plate that credited as Green School.

Since the 2010-2011 academic year in the program "Green Schools" and although this is his second year in this journey, willpower and tenacity have earned them this award.

They were very clear from the outset that his goal was to reduce noise emissions at its center.

To do this, teachers and students, advised by environmental educators from the Department of Environment of the City of Murcia, have worked very hard over the last year and a half.

First raising awareness throughout the school community, after conducting an environmental assessment to determine the situation and then launching an action plan with specific actions aimed at achieving environmental objectives.

These actions underscore the mapping of the noise of the school.

To do this, with the help of all the students and teachers were conducted acoustic measurements with sound level meters to see the spaces and the noisiest situations within school hours, in order to act accordingly.

In addition to the actions initiated with the noise issue, this center is quite sensitive to other environmental issues such as reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

They have an area set up as a green dot where to report regularly to the campaigns and environmental education activities undertaken.

Have launched a "green patrols" not only handle all students engage in cleaning the yard after recess, but also raise the issue of noise.

The school's students have completed Antonio Diaz morning planting a mulberry tree in the schoolyard.

The degree of participation in the Green Schools program is high.

In 2012-13 this course have been incorporated five new centers that were already shooting earlier courses, totaling 23.

Since the launch of this program in the 2001-2002 academic year, 56 are the centers that participated and 19 of them have been awarded the prize "Green Schools" in recognition of his work.
