Murcia City Council started the restoration of the monument to Francisco Salzillo, located in the Plaza de Santa Eulalia.
The monument was inaugurated in 1899 and pays tribute to the coolest Murcia sculptor of all time.
The pre-intervention work has involved the preparation of a study on the state of the part, to determine the current state thereof and the extent of damage in parts of its structure.
Among the tasks of rehabilitation are consolidating their base and applying a coating that prevents the damp and repairing various cracks in the four columns that hold the bust's sculptor.
Regarding the bust, will proceed to the restoration of the piece, which was carved by sculptor Araciel Sanchez.
The piece is affected by several flaws, the result of inclement weather and the presence of vegetation at the base.
The present painting is replaced by graffiti paint, acrylic resin based, to prevent further acts of vandalism in the future.
