The Strategic noise map reveals that Murcia is a municipality 'quiet' (10/01/2013)

There is little affection for the people of noise levels in excess of the standards set by cities like Bilbao, Valencia and Alicante doubling and tripling existing noise levels in Murcia The main condition is due to road traffic, reaching the highest levels in the zones through which run strongest paths of vehicles

Murcia is a municipality in which the residents are exposed to low levels of noise, according to the conclusions of the noise map made by the Department of Environment and in order to comply with European standards.

This strategic map has studied all of the towns in the municipality, city of Murcia and its 54 districts.

As conclusions obtained after the preparation of this study include:

?

Almost all villages are defined as "quiet areas", given the poor condition of the population to noise levels higher than those set by the regulations.

?

In the urban center of the city stands the existence of large "quiet zones" around the central sector (districts of Santa Eulalia, the Cathedral, San Juan, San Bartolomé, Santa Catalina, San Nicolas and San Pedro), due to the existence important pedestrian and traffic restrictions.

?

The main condition is due to road traffic, reaching the highest levels in areas where roads run more intensive vehicles.

The spatial configuration of the municipality, with the city of Murcia, the capital of the region where major roads converge more intense traffic, surrounded by villages of 54 districts, does this look favored.

?

The areas most affected by noise levels above the target values for density of population that lives, shows that localized areas where most affected population to noise levels above the limit for the night period (55 dB (A)) are accessible from the A30 by Artist Sobejano, shaft Murcia - El Palmar and Avenida Diez de Revenga - motorway exit, also associated with major traffic routes

Overall, the population in the districts subject to noise levels above target during the day (> 65 dB (A)) is 2.1%, while subject to noise levels above goal night (> 55 dB (A)) is 3.1%.

In the village, the population subject to noise levels above the day's target of 5.9% and 15.2% night

The causes of these levels are mainly by road traffic (2.8% in districts and 15% in city of Murcia) by axes Murcia - Sewer and Murcia - El Palmar, access from major routes (A30, A7 and MU30) and perimeter rounds (Round West, South Ronda. 1 May).

If the analysis is performed by villages, districts found that most people affected by road traffic are: Nonduermas, with 450 inhabitants.

(18.2%) affected day period, 431 hab.

(17.4%) affected in later period and 343 hab.

(13.8%) affected in night period; Guadalupe, with 72 bedrooms.

(1.2%) affected day period, 63 hab.

(1.0%) affected in later period and 876 hab.

(14.0%) affected in night period, and Puebla de Soto, with 130 inhabitants.

(7.7%) affected period day, 120 inhabitants.

(7.2%) affected in later period and 227 hab.

(13.5%) affected in night period.

In the city of Murcia, neighborhood analysis indicates that El Carmen, La Paz, San Miguel and San Anton are the greatest condition have on traffic.

The districts with lower noise levels correspond to the Campo de Murcia (Bath & Beggar, Corvera, Carrascoy - La Murta, Valladolises and The Jury, The Martinez del Puerto, Gea and Truyols, Sucina, Jerome and Avileses, Glens of San Peter Lobosillo), the west side of town (Cañada Hermosa, Boatmen), and those related to the scattered nuclei Huerta de Murcia (La Albatalía, The Arboleja, Beniscornia Corner, Corner Seca, Stables, Zeneta).

In the city of Murcia, the quietest are Santa Eulalia, San Nicolas, San Juan, San Bartolomé and Our Lady of Fuensanta (between El Carmen and El Infante).

With this information it is determined that Murcia is a municipality with low population affected by noise levels set by the rules, as can be seen also in comparison with other Spanish cities:

Thanks to this study are to develop action plans to determine actions to be taken to improve acoustics in those areas that exceed the limits set by the regulations or to protect those areas from quiet acoustic perspective

In order to improve the acoustic comfort of the municipality, the main measures included in the Action Plan should be addressed by both reducing the noise generated by road traffic of motor vehicles.

Murcia City Council has developed various measures in this regard, which has undoubtedly contributed to the current low levels of population affected by noise levels above those set by the regulations.

Thus, the development of the second phase of the Strategic Noise Map of the Municipality of Murcia has allowed to extend the acoustic map to all villages of the districts, in addition to updating the urban core of the city of Murcia.

Murcia City Council began, through the Department of Environment, noise mapping of the municipality in 1995, making measurements of noise levels during periods of day and night on the streets of the municipality of Murcia, with In order to know the levels of noise to which is subjected the population, according to the measurement protocol established in the Noise Ordinance and regional Decree 48/1998 on environmental protection against noise.
