Musical Cultural Association "Beniaján Chirigota" in collaboration with the Municipality of Murcia and the Romea Theatre and sponsored by Cruzcampo and Parliament Tapeo The Cathedral, organizes the National Chirigotas Contest "Ciudad de Murcia" to be place on February 23, Saturday, at the Teatro Romea from the capital.

After twelve years of existence and nine contests held in the Auditorium and Performing Arts Center "Sebastian Arce Gálvez" Beniaján finally makes the leap to the Teatro Romea.

The competition will begin at 21:00.

The participating groups are: Quartet "The Destrío" Beniaján with "I joke and tits", the joke "The Singuangos" Cartagena with "Fools cocoon", the joke of Aledo with "transposed to 'the day', the Chirigota Beniaján with "Stand ye," and, as a finishing touch, the Krewe of Kike Swirl and José Manuel Cardoso, of Cadiz, which this year presents "Valid", this troupe that brings several first prizes in the COAC (Contest Cluster of Carnival) of the Gran Teatro Falla in Cadiz.

Tickets are on sale at the box office of Teatro Romea, and www.teatroromea.es.

The events will begin at 12:00 am at the Plaza Romea, with the installation of a photographic exhibition and the twelve types (costume with the theme of each year) employed by the joke of Beniaján in its long journey , which then pass to settle in the Hall of Mirrors at the Teatro Romea.

Also, a canopy chirigotera, which pass jokes, ballads and other groups to participate in the festive atmosphere expected for that day.

At night, in the Contest, Musical Cultural Association of Beniaján Chirigota will present the award to chirigotero the Year, which falls on a public figure for his contribution to the spread and support of chirigotero Chirigotas and art in our region and neighboring provinces.

The chirigotero of 2013 is, as of today, a mystery.

We'll find out next February 23 at the Teatro Romea.
