UPyD Murcia focuses its efforts on improving social policies and municipal transparency (18/12/2012)

The first of the initiatives presented in plenary UPyD is to review the system of grants and subsidies to large families in order to apply only to those families who do not achieve a certain level of income, to be identified.

As an example, the mayor explained that there transportation bonds from large families that are subsidized by 50% for those of normal category, and 100% for those special category.

These subsidies and grants are awarded regardless of the income level of the family, so they are benefiting both poor families, and others who may have significant income or assets.

The second proposal for the formation of the magenta is the launch of a debate on the status of the city of Murcia, as is done in other provincial capitals such as Madrid, Valencia, Seville and Zaragoza.

"In our group," said Serna, "we believe that the celebration of this House contributes to improving the health of any democratic institution and may contribute to the improvement of different aspects."

"One could propose and exchange views from a much broader perspective than municipal debates, where what is at issue are specific proposals."

Finally, Murcia UPyD prompted the creation of a monitoring committee to fulfill the motions approved in plenary sessions.

For Ruben Juan Serna, "motions are the key policy instrument" with which groups have political representation in the Consistory to make proposals or requests and consideration by the plenary.

"However," he continues, "there is the fact that sometimes a motion presented by the opposition and approved by Parliament after it was executed by the government team, or its execution takes longer than agreed, provided or desirable "

Thus, it is proposed to "create a committee or working group without pay, in order to track the motions approved by the Plenary of the Corporation", respecting the proportionality of the different political groups.

In addition, Progress and Democracy Union has submitted several questions and requests for the full month of December.

Specifically, the group asks city to know if the government team has raised unilaterally terminate the contract with the concessionaire of the tram service, "as well as it is, is unsustainable."

It also asks the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, what is the status of discussions with the Ministry of Public Works regarding the arrival of the AVE in Murcia and burial.

Regarding the transfer of CEIP El Carmen to the Confraternity of Blood or 'coloraos' UPyD calls is taken into account the next centennial celebration of the University of Murcia in 2014.

"The first building was the school UMU, and therefore we believe that giving multiple use, so that also house spaces related to the educational world, and not just exclusively religious would be more appropriate."

Also, Councilman calls UPyD also assess the possibility of moving the sculpture of the founder of the city, Rahman II, the Glorieta de Spain Belluga Cardinal front wing.
