Submission Observatory University Smartcard International University of Murcia and Santander Bank (17/12/2012)

Jose Antonio Cobacho, Rector of the University of Murcia, and José Antonio Villasante Hill, CEO of Banco Santander and Director of Santander Universities Global Division, today unveiled the International Observatory University Smartcard (TUI) based at the University Murcia, which has the support of Banco Santander.

This Observatory was created to investigate new uses and services advanced chip technology applicable to university settings, as well as serve as a center of visits, demonstrations and dissemination of success stories and best experiences TUI.

It is created with the aim of becoming a reference center of eGovernment solutions based on smart card certificates.

The Centre will also act as a reference center of Banco Santander International Solutions TUI University.

The bank has been developing for over 15 years the University Smart Card, that by incorporating the latest developments in chip technology can adjust its functionalities and benefits to specific needs arising at each institution the university community.

Currently, more than 5.4 million members in more than 220 universities use a card developed by Banco Santander in collaboration with the university.

The event presented the Observatory website, your corporate image as well as a mobile app, recently published in the iPhone and Android markets, with new services and features for students of the University of Murcia.

Banco Santander's bid by the University of Murcia in the project of the International Observatory of University Student Card is part of the agreement signed between the two institutions in June 2012, and is an annual funding of 280,000 euros for technological activities related to TUI.

A relationship that goes back to 1997

The bank and the university have collaborated since 1997 in other initiatives such as their mobility programs for the university, and Employment Observatory project, which aims to analyze the processes of job placement for its graduates and study the main demands of the labor market.

Banco Santander is working on this and other activities of the University of Murcia through its Santander Universities Global Division, whose activities form the backbone of the bank's social action and allow you to maintain a stable alliance with more than 1,020 academic institutions in 17 countries.
