Neighbors Barriomar involved in caring for its green areas (04/12/2012)

The Councillor for the Environment, Adela Martinez-Cachá, participated this morning in the squat Gardening Barriomar activity, organized by the Federation of Neighborhood Associations occasion Neighbor Day.

Gardening is a program squatter neighborhood participation and environmental recovery, with the collaboration and support of the City of Murcia.

This is a public event in which all residents are actively involved in the recovery of public spaces or improving them, planting shrubs or trees, or flower usually native to the chosen space is recovered for enjoyment of residents.

The aim with this program is that by participating directly neighbors and to be themselves doing the planting, since when are considered as part of the space recovered and thereby created a respect for their care and maintenance.

The spaces chosen are few parterres Barriomar located opposite the Health Centre and in the garden next to the building where the Aliens Centre.

This experience was made last May in the neighborhood of Los Rosales recovered where a large area of ​​public space with massive participation of people living nearby and the result was very positive, and still maintain the plantings, and even been seen prune neighboring environment, care for and remove weeds from the flowerbeds, to consider themselves part of the recovery.
