Next Tuesday, December 4, the ONCE coupon will self image of one of the great painters Murcia: Antonio Cano Gómez.

Gómez Cano was born in a house at Alfaro, where he lived until two years old when the family moved to the home and studio of his father, Antonio Gomez Sandoval, located on Calle Simon Garcia, No. 55, the neighborhood Murcia Santa Eulalia (and where he lived until his early married).

She began painting in the studio of his father, studied between 1923-1928, at the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country.

In this period was associated with several of the artists of the 20's generation: Pedro Flores García, Luis Garay, Ramón Gaya, Pontoons, or Moreno Gonzalez.

In 1931 he exhibited for the first time in a group show organized by "Friends of Art".

In 1933 he became a student at the Free School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid.

This coupon is not the only tribute to the painter makes Murcia, since last March in Murcia opened an exhibition to commemorate the centennial anniversary of his birth.

The works that were exhibited to commemorate the centenary of his birth were a sample more than evident from the essence of Murcia painter who left for Madrid to develop a paint line and in continuous contact with the artistic movements of the time, however, at no time ceased to be a great ambassador for his country Murcia.

Gómez Cano had a great decorative painting workshop and taught economics.

It was an independent painter, who turned away from what is the pictorial language, but delves into a new lexicon.

The big personality of his work is in its full palette of expression, thick and very rich in polychrome.

The exhibition, which was on display until April, consisted of more than 60 works by the artist in different formats and, mostly, presenting oil paintings of landscapes, portraits, still lifes, etc..
