Promoting intermodality between the different modes of transport and further improve road safety, the key Department of Traffic and Transportation in 2013 (23/11/2012)

The Department of Traffic and Transportation will manage a budget in 2013 amounted to 21,414,716 euros with which it intends to continue creating an integrated transport model in which different media groups in the municipality moving in concert.

Thus what is perhaps the most important initiative next year, is the development of the various studies required to connect the north and south of the city by tram and traffic sort by those areas that runs, for which invested 300,000 euros.

In the first quarter of next year will implement the final model bus transport, with changing lines fruit born of consensus and thanks to suggestions from residents, associations and other groups.

Likewise, work will continue on the creation of a single ticket tram and bus to encourage intermodality between the two modes of transport.

This will require an investment-related technological security devices used.

Also be promoted meetings with the Department of Transportation for the possible creation of a unique bond that includes trunk lines.

In terms of traffic, be executed various projects aimed at improving road safety in different municipalities.

This is going to change islands, medians and roundabouts that allow greater flow and to ensure security.

The most significant are the Glorieta de Ronda Avenue South with Miguel Indurain, access to Ronda Sur from Vicente Aleixandre or placement of a median in the tunnel Mayday Avenue.

Also be repaired, in the alternative, private parking Abderramán in northern bypass, which requires different maintenance work and safety of communities whose owners refuse to perform.

This will invest 300,000 euros.

The council enabled in Espinardo and the City of Justice two park and ride so that drivers who use this main entrance to the city or the core concentration vehicles can park your car and use public transport means, in saving and comfort for the user.

Also allocated about 250,000 euros to develop various civil works to improve traffic will depend on the requests of neighborhood councils thus creating a list of priorities.

Furthermore, in the streets that have asfalten and pedestrian crossings with traffic light regulation will reduce the paint to signal these horizontal road markings.

This, in addition to reducing spending on painting and maintenance, will be removed from the roadway elements that can be dangerous for motorcycles and bicycles as they cause slipping.

Thus in crosswalks be painted only the beginning and the end of the signaling lines.

Contest also will bring three contracts: The maintenance of horizontal and vertical signaling, supply the horizontal and vertical signage and small civil works.

The Department will participate in the project Mobisec Service for European Programmes which will be invested over 150,000 euros in improving the safety of cyclists and pedestrians in the street, especially in the bike lanes and roundabouts.

This will be improvements at various roundabouts, still to be determined, as segregated bike lanes or speed bumps.

Also implemented measures to improve transport intermodality and installing bicycle safe places to leave the bike to catch the tram or bus.

Finally, thanks to an agreement with the universities, will be installed on bicycles locators to determine exactly what the Murcia walking itineraries on their bikes.

This will serve to project activities.
