The Mayor concluded his stay in Bogota with a meeting with the full City Council (22/11/2012)

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, yesterday closed its four-day stay in Bogotá with participation in a meeting held by the City Council, convened in special session to address issues related to climate change.

The plenary session in the morning yesterday, met, in addition to the council chamber and the Environment, Adela Martinez-Cachá, Vice President of Greater Lyon (France), Charles Bruno, and the Deputy State of Rio de Janeiro , Aspasia Camargo.

The event took place at the conclusion of the program of Cities and Climate Change Summit, which met this week in the capital of Colombia to 20 delegations of authorities in Latin America, 16 delegations of experts and speakers from 12 countries, with the aim of support regional and global initiatives on mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

House, who has come invited by the city of Bogotá, has participated in several sessions of the summit which discussed Murcia experience in implementing transport modes consistent with sustainable mobility, especially the tram and bicycle.

Besides pronounce the conferences on non-motorized mobility and multimodality as lifestyle Chamber has also had the opportunity to participate in the Leaders' Summit in which mayors signed the Pact of Mexico City, containing the commitment of the cities to address climate change.

Meanwhile, Miguel Ángel Cámara said the Covenant of Mayors, signed in 2009, whereby EU councils attached pledge to reduce CO2 emissions, at least, 20% for 2020, and invited Latin American authorities to join this initiative.
