38 associations in the municipality of Murcia add to the celebrations of the Week of the rights of children (16/11/2012)

The city of Murcia is preparing once again to celebrate the Week of the Rights of Children, a week which has been held for 14 years from the city of Murcia, to vindicate and defend the rights of the most disadvantaged.

Events take place from Tuesday 20 to Sunday 25 November at various points in the city of Murcia.

Another year, and the third is to be taken as a frame of reference for the work of the Convention, adopted by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989.

The Convention became enforceable document in 1990, after being signed and accepted by 20 countries, including Spain.

To date all countries have signed the Convention, except two countries (USA and Somalia).

The 54 articles of the Convention can be grouped into four categories of rights and guiding principles that are the basis for the rights to collect a reality.

The guiding principles include: non-discrimination, adherence to the interests of the child / a, the right to life, survival and development and the right to participation.

This time, we have developed an activity called The Factory of Ideas, Platform initiative of Children's Organizations (POI) for participants to improve knowledge and understanding of the rights of the child and their enforcement in our country, generating ideas to help children everywhere, starting from the last report of the Committee on children's rights for Spain in November 2010.

This activity has been carried out during the month of October with alumni / ae of the 5th and 6th of several schools in the municipality (the Arboleja, Cristo del Valle, Angel Zapata and Mirasierra of Torreaguera, and school Nuestra Señora de los Angeles de Rincón Seca).

The work will result in a document with conclusions.
