Universities carry out studies to ascertain the state of tourism in the municipality (15/11/2012)

Determine the status of tourism in the municipality of Murcia and the needs of the tourists who visit us are some of the objectives of the studies that the Department of Tourism has commissioned San Antonio Catholic University and the University of Murcia.

The Governing Board today approved the hiring of 'study for the implementation of a strategic plan for sustainable, competitive and innovative tourism of the municipality of Murcia', which held the Fundación Universitaria San Antonio (UCAM).

Lead time is six months.

Also pending on study developed at the University of Murcia, and that will be hired shortly.

This initiative is part of the Tourism Promotion Plan 'Murcia 365', which aims to consolidate the town as a tourist destination throughout the year.

Studies carried out by universities allow a diagnosis of current tourism landscape and propose new initiatives to promote tourism in Murcia.

Also, it will detect the weaknesses and threats in the tourism sector, and develop the strengths and opportunities for tourism in the municipality.

The research results will be made public.

The Councillor for Tourism, Miguel Cascales, also held meetings with the heads of the departments of Commerce, Environment, Outdoor, Sports, Culture and Celebration, which also participate in this Plan, the Autonomous Community of the Convention Bureau Ayuntamiento de Murcia, Hostemur, traders and culture, leisure and events, and much needs to study and implement initiatives.

The goal is to make a landmark resort Murcia, 365 days a year, enhancing and strengthening the brand 'Murcia'.
