Tourist Offices in October reregister a dramatic increase in the number of visitors (14/11/2012)

Municipal Tourist Offices Belluga and street-piazza Santa Clara-have registered again in October a dramatic increase in the number of visitors.

Specifically, we have detected an increase of 25.39% of visitors in October compared with the same month last year.

In October 2012 the offices have gone through 10,365 tourists while 8266 people attended in 2011.

The Councillor for Sports, Youth and Tourism, Miguel Cascales, stressed that it is the fourth consecutive month that there is an increase in the number of visitors compared to last year, recovering the fall in the number of tourists who had been recording in the past four years.

The increase recorded in October, regional visitors grew by 41.03% compared to 2011, the national 11.56% and 35.18% foreign one.

Miguel Cascales has emphasized that although, as a rule, visitors to Murcia from other municipalities in the region do not stay overnight in the city, yes they eat or dine in Murcia and usually go shopping, contributing to the revitalization of the hotel and trade.

As for the origin, domestic tourists came from 51 different cities, mainly in the communities of Valencia (26.61%), Madrid (11.48%) and Catalonia (10.19%), and especially in the cities Alicante, Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, ​​Santander, Oviedo, Granada, Salamanca, Badajoz and Guadalajara.

Foreigners come from 67 different countries, mainly the UK (31.8%), France (11.98%) and Germany (11.07%).
