The new doctor of the San Antonio Catholic University (UCAM) Manuel Cases, defended last Friday, November 8, in the auditorium of the UCAM, the doctoral thesis "Study of the anterior cruciate ligament plasty, autologous versus heterologous" , directed by Dr. Pedro Guillen and Tomas Fernandez.
The orthopedic surgeon, and a doctoral student at San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) Manuel Cases, defended on Friday 8 November in the Auditorium of the UCAM his doctoral thesis, entitled `Study of the anterior cruciate ligament plasty, autologous heterologous vs'.
Notably, the research, led by Dr. Pedro Guillen and Tomas Fernandez, won the court's rating Suitable Cum Laude, unanimously.
The new doctor concludes in his study that reaches up to 3000 the number of people, mostly men, who annually are injured anterior cruciate ligament.
Cases Manuel said during his presentation that 85% of injured athletes often play football in the first instance, skiing, rugby, or professional dance.
Cases also stated that in 65% of these cases the lesions usually occur indirectly, by improper movement of the affected patient.
The orthopedic surgeon, and new doctor for the UCAM, Manuel Cases, discusses her research on what is the best alternative intervention for this type of injury ahead of the return of the injured to a normal physical activity level, whether a heterologous in which artificial grafts are performed, or autologous, wherein the grafts from the patient.
The new doctor stated in his research that the latter has proven to be the most practiced and working best for reinstatement.
Also added regarding the patients surveyed in the study, which is determining the high percentage of them returning to recover the same level of physical activity, a 74'9%, and also notes that only 13% had aches and pains, after surgery.
