More than 2,600 students participate in an activity to learn music Maghreb (06/11/2012)

More than 2,600 students from 34 schools in secondary and high schools will participate in the activity 'A mint tea, music of the Maghreb'.

A concert with the Arab Orchestra of Barcelona, ​​which approximates the youngest to different cultures, promoting the integration and coexistence.

Meetings will be held on 20 and 21 November in two passes, at 9.30 and 11.30 at the Teatro Circo Murcia.

Education Councilwoman Maria Dolores Sanchez, explained that this initiative is part of the education program 'The city also teaches', thanks to the cooperation agreement signed by the Department of Education and the Department of Culture of the City of Murcia with the Foundation La Caixa.

A presentation of the activity has attended Maria Dolores Sanchez, Councillor of Culture, Rafael Gomez, director of the Teatro Circo Murcia, César Oliva, and the director of the Business Area and La Caixa, Gerardo Cuartero.

The concert is framed in a series of concert series bringing music school for students from a playful perspective while teaching.

Besides attending the activity is distributed among teachers educational materials with audio files, complementary to the concert, which provides information on Arabic music, geography and history, art and social issues.

'A mint tea', focuses on the music of the Maghreb, transporting listeners to North Africa, where they discover the musical richness of the different peoples who make up the western part of the Islamic world, listening to songs and rhythms Berbers, the gnaua and Sufis.

They know the influence of Arabic music in the Iberian Peninsula, with Arab-Andalusian themes and modern styles such as raï chaabi or.

The three discover issues like morels or La Tarara, may become familiar with the rhythms and learn about the musical instruments used.

This activity will also provide tools to promote respect for different cultures and is an excellent resource for the integration of students from the Maghreb.
