Young unemployed Murcia held internships in European travel companies (06/11/2012)

Fifty young unemployed Murcia will have the opportunity to do an internship in tourism enterprises in Europe through the launch of the European initiative Leonardo, who coordinates the Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism of the City of Murcia.

Practices are held in Austria (12 participants), Czech Republic (10 participants), Germany (6 participants), United Kingdom (12 participants) and Italy (10 participants) and will run for twelve weeks.

The goal is for young people to gain work experience to facilitate job search, develop competencies and skills to increase skill levels and improve entrepreneurship.

This project is aimed at youth in the municipality of between 18 and 35 who are unemployed and have not ever worked.

They should be graduates in Tourism, Communication, Public Relations, Languages, Business Administration, Hospitality, Travel Agencies or Restoration.

There will be a personal interview the candidates, will take into account also the language and preference will be given to candidates with fewer economic resources.

Participants will have covered the cost of accommodation, meals, travel and language course.

It is the first time that the city of Murcia Leonardo participating in the initiative, through the project called 'Ibn Arabi: developing the tourism sector through the formation of young people in Europe', which is subsidized by the European Commission and carried out in collaboration with the European Programmes of the Department of Employment, Trade and Business.

This project came about because of the high percentage of unemployed youth in the municipality that has never had a job, lack of specialized work experience of young people in their professional sector, lack of opportunities for training in another EU country, demand for increasingly specialized by the tourism industry and to promote the mobility of young European.

The deadline for submitting applications begins tomorrow and ends on November 21.

Registration takes place in the General Register of the City (Plaza Apostles) or the Youth Service, Street Reporter Carlos Valcarcel (Next to the Clinic La Vega), or at any post office, dated and stamped before certifying applications the envelope.

The Councillor for Sports, Youth and Tourism, Miguel Cascales, explained that this initiative will leverage the synergies and efforts that are being developed for tourism through the Tourism Promotion Plan Murcia 365, contributing to the professionalization of the sector.

Many foreign visitors who come to town and need staff who can respond to their demands.

Furthermore, this project aims to streamline and enhance the tourism sector of the municipality and incorporating youth with experience, new ideas and new skills.
