The Mayor distinguishes nine Murcia with the award "Mayor of the Municipality of Murcia" (31/10/2012)

Five men and four women have now become the first people honored with the award "Mayor of the Municipality of Murcia".

The nine have received today from Mayor plaques accredit them as holders of this award, at a grand ceremony which was held at the Teatro Romea, with the presence of many members of senior centers that wanted to be present in this event.

The protagonists of the event have been Elijah Garrigós Ros, Alberto Balance Bonache, Ana Morenilla Orrico, Magaña Francisca Fuentes, Mariano Herrera Ortiz, Josefina Moreno Rodriguez, Vivancos Ginés Navarro, Antonio Cañete Penalva Manzanera and Juana Marin.

The awards were announced in this first edition to coincide with the European Year of Active Ageing.

With them, the City wants to distinguish those residents of Murcia who have excelled dramatically and relevant for their exemplary citizen behavior in any of the areas of municipal activity, cultural, social or economic.

All winners have in common that have been proposed by the respective municipal boards, at the initiative of the neighbors.

By the very nature of the call, it is intended that these are not an exclusive choice of the City, but his rationale emanating from the will of the citizens.

Thus, in this first edition of the "Mayor of the Municipality of Murcia" chosen people residing in different parts of the municipality, both neighborhoods as the hamlets, and have different professions, whether teachers, businessmen, journalists or freelancers.

The event held at the Teatro Romea was simple but very emotional.

After a brief biography of the winners, the Mayor has delivered them distinctions, after directing a few words of portrait of each of them and thank them for their work and dedication on behalf of Murcia, each in his field.

ELIAS ROS GARRIGÓS

Born in Murcia in 1918.

Widower of Dolores Lopez Martinez, the father of three daughters and grandfather of six grandchildren and great-grandfather of 7 children.

ALBERTO BALANCE Bonache

Born in 1932 in the Plaza de las Flores, on the family confectionery later became the focus of his life, which he joined at an early age.

In 1954, with the death of his uncle Albert, inherited the business, which modernizes both its facilities and the range of products, whose star has been and is undoubtedly the meatloaf.

ANA MORENILLA ORRICO

JOSEFINA MORENO RODRIGUEZ

In this regard, it is worth recalling the appointment of Josefina Moreno as Regional Secretary of Education and Culture with UCD, Senate candidate in 1982 and Chair of the Culture Committee in the first pre-autonomous government.

It has also been and is fundamental and significant dedication to elders and, in particular, their work done for the commission "Active Ageing" the State Council on Aging.

Your participation in society, relationships with family, volunteering, pensions, equal opportunities, rights and duties or leisure are among the issues addressed by Josefina Moreno in their contributions to the welfare of people older.

NAVARRO VIVANCOS GINÉS

With a life dedicated to sport, and especially football, Ginés Vivancos Cabezo born in 1944 in Towers, where he lives with his wife, Pilar Alarcon, with whom he had three children who have given them seven grandchildren.

He has been and continues to be involved in the life of the parish, which has held all kinds of responsibilities in different social groups: Carnival president, Butler of Virgin Our Lady of Tears, Adoration cofounder, president of Club Atlético Cabezo de Torres and member of the Football Federation of Murcia.

He is currently Vice President of the Municipal Board, the social center of higher and Festival Committee of the hamlet.

Among other awards, the Golden Shield has Cabezo de Torres granted by the Municipal Board in 2005.

ANTONIO CAÑETE MANZANERA

Born in September 1943 in Murcia, Antonio Cañete began his 15-year career in the guild of pyrotechnics, in the family business run by his grandfather and father.

Since then, no town or district of the region where the sky has not been illuminated by the light and sound of the master Cañete.

The fireworks created by his pyrotechnics have earned him numerous awards, among others, of the Federation of Peñas huertanas, the Band Sardinera and Moors and Christians.

Outside our region has also been honored by the Feria de Albacete and Alicante failures, in addition to winning ways in Cadiz with the illustrious carrocista Conte.

Penalva JUANA MARIN

Daughter of Charity, the congregation joined in 1950.
