The UCAM, home of the Olympics] | The UCAM has signed an agreement with the Madrid 2020 bid and has honored SAU Olympians and Paralympians Region |

The San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), has paid tribute this morning to Olympians and Paralympians from the Region of Murcia, during the celebration of the Second Conference of Olympism.

The ceremony involved the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara; UCAM president, José Luis Mendoza, the director of the Spanish Olympic Committee Sports (COE), Roman Ricardo Leiva, the general director of the Physical Activity and Sport Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Peñalver, the rector of International Relations and Communication University, Paul Blesa, and the dean of the Faculty of CAFD, Antonio Sanchez Duck.

The Director General of Sports of the Madrid 2020 Bid, Raul Plating, has been responsible for delivering the lecture of the conference, where he has lectured on Madrid 2020.

Plating has highlighted the work of athletes and said that "Olympic athletes are role models for society, and the Paralympics are advanced models."

Meanwhile, Richard Lewis, said the more than a thousand students packed the Temple of Jeronimos Monastery that "sport is in your hands", and has been defined as a university UCAM exemplary.

"What this University is doing for the sport is unusual," he qualified.

UCAM President, José Luis Mendoza, highlighted the work being carried out by the University for the sport, and said that "from the Catholic University of Murcia consider essential the promotion of sport as a school of human values."

In the same line has also referred the mayor of Murcia, who congratulated the university for the ongoing work in the field of education and in sports, and recalled the award UCAM just received from the Council Higher Sports Trophy Joaquín Blume.

Collaboration agreement

Notably, during the celebration of these Second Conference of Olympism, the UCAM and the Madrid 2020 bid SAU, have signed a framework agreement for the development of a cooperation program between the two institutions, with a view to the possible conclusion of the Olympic Games 2020 in Madrid.

The agreement includes joint collaboration in promotion and dissemination of the Madrid 2020 Olympic bid, and if necessary, help in organizing the event through various modalities.

Tribute to Olympians and Paralympians

The University wanted to honor during this Second Conference of Olympism, the Olympic and Paralympic athletes who competed in the last Games in 2012.
