IU-Greens complaint that was not activated the Municipal Emergency Plan before the heavy rains of September 28 (10/10/2012)

The IU-Greens councilor in Murcia, José Ignacio Tornel, has reported today in a press conference that the City did not activate the Municipal Emergency Plan to heavy rains last September 28.

Tornel has criticized the "zero approach" of municipal officials to prevent situations such as those that occurred that day, which caused flooding in several parts of the city.

He indicated that the Emergency Plan was created in 1993, which "neither the human and material resources and the conditions of the city have to do with the current."

In this sense, has announced that it will ask whether the Plan has been updated, as "apparently" was amended in 2006, although in that year IU-Greens had no representation in the council.

The mayor has criticized that emergency situations "of continued ill-timed, both in prevention and in the implementation of intervention mechanisms."

"The time that was the most intense rain reached 39.2 liters per square meter. Such figures should not be a problem or cause the chaos in this city."

He has also accused the government team that "wadi channel and still not end in the middle of town", while Murcia hydrological plan "is out on another project for the gallery of the mayor."

"The policy of the PP does not put residents first, but friends of speculation," he assured Tornel, after maintaining that Aguas de Murcia "should have faced that work of channeling and water harvesting."

Finally, has demanded that the local PP to launch "a true urban policy, in line with the general interest and planned from the basic needs of the citizens."
