The gardens and natural areas of the municipality are converted classrooms of nature (08/10/2012)

The Department of Environment returns a year to prepare a comprehensive, varied and care program of environmental activities that will extend the weekend until next December.

In total the Murcia may participate in three seminars, five guided tours, a route, seven workshops in gardens and three environmental volunteer activities, most of them free.

With these proposals is to enhance information and environmental awareness of the population of the town, offering a wide range of thematic alternatives both in the urban and natural environment in which they can participate all concerned.

Seminars and workshops in the Majal Blanco Nature: for this quarter is a training program monthly the Nature of Majal Blanco (Saturdays from 10 to 17 hours) to address emerging issues in the hands of expert teachers each , and in direct contact with one of the best preserved natural environment of the municipality: in the Regional Park of El Valle and Carrascoy.

Registration for the seminars is $ 5 (free for under 17 and over 65 years).

December 1: Preparation and tasting Christmas sweets

Itineraries and environmental routes tours: 6 activities are scheduled for Sundays: 5 routes (10 to 14 hours) and 1 route (10 to 17 hours, scroll Bus), which will bring participants to various environments enclaves and environmental interest .

Other new additions include the ascent to the summit of the Sierra de Altaona, and a unique enclaves route de la Vega Media del Segura.

We pineapple Environmental Volunteer!: Currently volunteering already has a group of 35 people registered through the Office of Volunteers.

For this period three activities are scheduled for voluntary action, taking place on Saturday from 10 to 14 hours in three municipal environmental enclaves: the Botanical Garden of the Malecon, the Majal Blanco City Park, and municipal properties of the Sierra de Altaona.

October 20: Recovery Malecón Botanical Garden (in collaboration with the Association of Friends of the Botanical Garden of Murcia)

November 10: Green Building: an era of consolidation of milling and kiln cast in the Majal Blanco.

December 15: Conservation Special Protection Areas for birds (SPAs) (in collaboration with ADESGA).

It is also planned to develop the campaign "Sustainable Christmas", in order to promote and encourage good environmental practices ahead of the holidays.

To all this must be added the environmental education program for school "Murcia, a city ecology" in which participated in last year 16,246 students of all educational levels and offers the following possibilities:

School gardens: the fifth edition of the program starts with 14 schools already participating in the whole process of growing vegetables from planting to harvesting.

Right now the course is taking place planting autumn-winter in which schoolchildren will seed beans, radishes, peas and carrots, and lettuce, chard, celery, spinach, etc..

This will be the stage live for children to learn the care needed by plants for growth, pests that affect them and other issues such as energy, the sun, water, land, food, health, work agricultural ...

Green Schools: This year reaches its twelfth edition and starts at 20 centers serving motivated to continue with the educational process of the environmental audit to fully optimize the use of resources (paper, water and energy) and environmentally educate the whole educational community to lead the school management towards sustainability.

Examples of centers that are working with this program are the CEIP Felix Rodriguez, who for this course is focusing on the theme of energy and has launched its energy plan, the school of Antonio Diaz Garres who worked the issue of noise Full map and made a noise of its center, in addition to others who have launched campaigns to reduce consumption of aluminum foil to the snacks.

Lectures, workshops and visits: This program allows you to work a selection of 13 songs on urban ecology.

In the past year involving a total of 289 classrooms involving 7218 students.

The students also visit the Nature of Majal Blanco where activities in direct contact with nature are a considerable role.

In the past year included nearly 1,500 students from kindergarten through high school.
