The University of Murcia incorporates fair trade coffee machines in all of its campuses (05/10/2012)

The University of Murcia, taking advantage of the recent tender for the grant of services of automatic coffee machines of their institutions, incorporated in them exclusive use bean fair trade.

The award has been made to the company Selecta, which has identified all its coffee machines with a seal certifying that it is fair trade and an informative label social benefits that their consumption entails.

The fair trade coffee machines is priced at 0.50 euros this year, the same as was charged last year for traditional trade coffee.

In 2004, the University of Murcia voluntarily introduced fair trade coffee in its cafes, where users have the option of choosing this type of product as an alternative to normally served.

The University made a commitment and sustainable development and fairer trade relations with the poorest countries.

From 2009, all competitions to fill the cafeteria have included clauses in their contract documents required to use only coffee beans from fair trade.

In previous concession cafeterias that year, a place where the two types of coffee, prices for this course have been adjusted so that there is only a difference of five cents between regular coffee and fair trade (which is always something more expensive).
