San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), will participate another year, through its team 'San Antonio Racing Team, in the third edition of the Solar Race Region of Murcia, which opened today and will end next Saturday at the Circuito de Cartagena.
The University, which during the past editions has competed in the category with its prototype solar photovoltaic 'San Antonio', presented as a novelty this year a new vehicle, the 'Wave Rider', an electric concept car, made of aluminum and fiberglass , and that does not exceed 35 kilograms.
The Wave Rider, with a 600 watt motor and 36 volts, presents important traits rear direction, allowing the rear wheel is in charge of the vehicle turn.
Similarly, the UCAM electric prototype incorporates a network of sensors that measure consumption and allow the pilot to know the real time information.
The team 'San Antonio Racing Team', is made up of professors and students of Engineering Degree in Telecommunications Systems from the University, and also work from the Nursing Degrees, Advertising, and Communication Studies also maintenance personnel .
The project has the support of Banco Santander, and companies like Tubomurcia or Comarth, among others.
Notably, the team of the Catholic University of Murcia has already scored several victories, like the prototype achieved with San Antonio in the last edition of the Shell Eco-Marathon, held last May in Holland, and in which the UCAM won first place among Spanish universities participating.
