San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), presented this afternoon by Gmp Foundation, the program will allow Capacitas 12 youth with intellectual disabilities study in the UCAM.
Note that this program is part of the initiatives undertaken by the Chair 'for inclusion German Montoro sociolaboral of people with intellectual disabilities'.
During the second act intervened and Executive Deputy Mayor of Health and Social Welfare of the City of Murcia, María del Carmen Pelegrin Garcia, the president of the UCAM, Jose Luis Mendoza, the rector of the University, Josefina Garcia, the president of Gmp Foundation, Gloria German, and the director of the Chair, Maria del Mar Pintado.
The group of young people who are part of the first class Capacitas program, are aged between 18 and 30 years, and come from various locations in the Region of Murcia.
Students will begin classes on Monday, and once completed two years of training, they will receive the proper title of 'Business and Technical Activities socio', from the Catholic University of Murcia and Gmp Foundation.
Similarly, it should be noted that in addition to the training program, the Chair launched a research group that will address issues related to the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
The objective of this project is to provide adequate job training, to enable them to be included in the company work and generate the necessary supports for workers with intellectual disabilities to achieve independent living.
UCAM President, José Luis Mendoza, said the implementation of this project as an important moment for the University and the Region of Murcia.
For his part, the director of the Chair, Maria del Mar Pintado stressed that students will receive theoretical training during the first year, and in the second, will practice in different companies and collaborators.
