Murcia recorded the largest increase of tourists in history (26/09/2012)

Murcia has recorded the largest increase in history tourists during the summer.

The Councillor for Sports, Youth and Tourism, Miguel Cascales, explained that during the months of July and August the number of people who have been through the Office of Tourism and the Tourist Information Point Hall Romea has been 26,188, increasing one 62.74% compared to the same time last year, and taking an average of 422 visitors each day.

Of the total visitors, 11,575 were from the Region of Murcia, 6292 are nationals from 51 different cities, mainly in the regions of Madrid, Valencia and Catalonia, and 8,321 foreigners from 68 countries, mainly the UK, France and Germany, registering a 38.83% foreigners over the past year.

The dramatic increase in tourists during the past months of July and August breaks the downward trend of the past five years.

The reason for the visit to Murcia has been the cultural and commercial.

What I value most tourists in the city are its gardens, the friendliness of Murcia, the atmosphere of the streets as well as free brochures and maps are delivered.

The Council launched the campaign during the summer 'Imagine', to attract tourists to the beaches from Benidorm to Mojacar, emphasizing the attraction, cultural and gastronomic town.

The diffusion was performed with marquees, billboards, kiosks inset, distribution of brochures in hotels and establishments, parabriseado and aerial advertising.

The aim is to introduce and invite you to visit Murcia five million holidaymakers from the beaches of Alicante, Murcia and Almeria.

Another initiative being carried out is the redecoration of over 80 bins installed in the Glorieta and Gran Via The bins were covered with vinyl with 16 different images of the city.

Murcia is beautify while to inform visitors of the city landmarks.

World Tourism Day

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, to be held tomorrow, which coincides with the World Day Cover, and Hostemur City Council have organized a tapas tasting, accompanied by a beer Estrella de Levante, for people who come to the Plaza de Santa Isabel, 12.30.
