RM EQUO complaint and continued neglect of the City unfulfilled commitments of capital in sustainable mobility (21/09/2012)

All management until Mayor House and his administration has consisted of a mere 'greenwash' Image

On the occasion of the European Mobility Week and Car Free Day (Saturday 22), RM EQUO total abandonment complaint that the Consistory of the municipality of Murcia shown to the improvement and implementation of all plans for the sustainable mobility.

Given that the theme proposed by the European project SEM (European Mobility Week) for this year is "Participate in mobility plans for your city: move in the right direction", we want to highlight that the Mobility Plan Sustainable Urban Murcia is still in draft stage since March 2011.

Since that date the 2,000 expected answer allegations that both political parties and associations and private citizens filed, only form of participation that allowed the vast majority of the population of Murcia.

Also highlight blatant breach that entails the commitment by the City in its "local strategy on climate change in the municipality of Murcia 2008-2012", as measured at play in this period of time, projected the "development and implementation of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan ".

This paper considers himself an "increase in the bus fleet and itineraries."

But the situation was untenable to come on public transport in our city, due to the unfortunate management bus operating company, has meant a rise not only outrageous but also rates forecasting suspension lines.

While the density of motorized traffic in the center is in the modal above 50% (EU recommends 30%).

The same goes for the Bicycle Master Plan that, despite being only partially approved, has not incorporated any of the allegations made by various entities (also unanswered by the City from March 2010).

Recall that, in assuming the presidency of the Network of Cities for the bike in October 2011, the mayor of Murcia formally assumed the commitment to promote this mode of transport and, to date, in Murcia ciclables infrastructure they are still anecdotal inadequate and poorly planned.

Despite this bleak picture, the Consistory up in your drawers agreements towards sustainability (Network of Cities for Climate, Aalborg Charter and so on) in a brazen operation "greenwashing" and, protected by the economic crisis, fails to comply with the minimum to be engaged in these covenants.

From Murcia EQUO we stress that the commitment to sustainable mobility should not be a secondary issue in these times when the urgency of economic affairs cup the political agenda.

In addition to promoting ecological reconversion of the productive system that has brought us to this situation can be a regenerative economy.

A policy management committed to sustainable mobility can mean new green jobs (in 2011 the Ministry of Public totaled 843,500 which could be generated only in the public transport sector) and the pair embark on the road to solve other crises of central affect our planet: the energy and climate.
