Urban Cleaning collects 43 tons of waste after the Pilgrimage (12/09/2012)

The Department of Urban Cleaning and Waste Management has collected a total of 43 tons of trash during the pilgrimage, which was held yesterday.

The City Council launched a special cleaning device for this event which began on Monday and will end tomorrow.

Since Monday night, 82 workers, 26 drivers and seven foremen cleaned areas used by the pilgrims yesterday, along with the machinery made up of 24 sweepers, 4 trucks, 8 dropside trucks for unloading the sweepers and 6 collectors in charge of the 100 empty containers ready for use by pilgrims.

It is worth noting that the distribution of the 30,000 biodegradable garbage bags made again the City during the course of the party has been very positive, as the esplanade Fuensanta this morning was full of bags closed and waste loose.

It also collects, waxes during the pilgrimage were distributed to pilgrims carrying candles have largely avoided the showy spots of wax on the floor.

The kilos of trash collected during these days have been 43,000.

All this garbage has been collected in the course of the pilgrimage, in clearing the forest and around the Shrine of Fuensanta and in containers placed in the path of the pilgrimage.
