To light the torch of friendship marks the beginning of the International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean (03/09/2012)

With forty-five year history, the International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean is one of the oldest of all the festivals that are celebrated not only in the city and in the region of Murcia, but also in Spain.

The festival acts as an integrator between the different federations and associations.

The lighting of the torch of friendship will be the official ceremony marking the beginning of the festival, at 19.30, in the Plaza de Santo Domingo.

Once completed the act of power, there will be a parade through the city of Murcia of all participating groups: Pipe Band and Drums of Lorca, Wine Horses of Caravaca de la Cruz, folk group Virgen de la Vega (Murcia) , Gorets dance ensemble (Autonomous Republic of North Ossetia), folk group anate (Tenerife), winery sa Colla Eivissa (Balearic Islands), Nova Geracao folk group (Brazil), National Dance Ensemble SABO (Republic of Uzbekistan), group San Juan Bautista folk (Murcia), Songs and Dances of Yecla Regional Association "Francisco Salzillo" (Yecla-Murcia), Asociación Cultural Dancers ACODANZA-scissors (Peru) and Songs and Dances of Murcia Regional Association "Francisco Salzillo" (Murcia ).

This new edition is divided into blocks:

- Choirs and dance groups, acting in different streets and squares of the city and the headquarters of the festival scene.

- Exhibitions, which complement and endow the festival its foundation its rationale.

THE MYTH AND THE MEDITERRANEAN.

- Studies and presentations, which will generate a seminar and a database for researchers of folklore.

The seminar will involve the collaboration of the City Museum, which made the readings of the various papers, with free access to all places.

- Screening of three films in the Spanish films having a strong ethnographic, anthropological or folklore, which show different aspects of dance, music, traditions, lifestyles,

- Documentary: Across the Sea (2011) by Gonzalo Ballester.

- Flamenco, Flamenco (2010).

- Actions to promote elements of the tradition of our city or region and, as a recovery, perform traditional type activities, readings, recitations, dialogues, with the central axis of the Mediterranean and surrounding cultures, cultures of the countries participating in the festival with their dances.

"Trasnochando" is a physical space and time for creation and recreation, for sensitivity.

In the Museum of the City will create a physical space and time which made readings, recitations and dialogues of literary texts by different authors of all time, on issues related to the cultural sphere of the different groups involved in folklore the festival: Portugal, Peru, North Ossetia, Uzbekistan, Egypt - Senegal and Spain (Balearic Islands and Canary Islands), by poets, artists and actors Murcia.
