Statement of the Governing Council of the University of Murcia (27/07/2012)

The Governing Council of the University of Murcia, which met today in Convalescence, has approved the following statement:

"This Council shows its most frontal opposition to the introduction of medical studies in the UCAM. Patent marking is a surplus of doctors in state formation, so that increasing the number of places, far from overcoming a problem is absent and only in a poorly sized geographical distribution, bag will increase unemployment in a strategic sector for the country.

There is no justification, under any view, a private institution that makes use of public resources such as the Health Service of Murcia, paid all taxes, to support a private activity that covers only a private business, never a need, for such does not exist.

Divide those resources as very depleted, to conduct practice in public hospitals is a direct attack on the quality of health services and, of course, the conditions under which public university students, the other, all Murcia, are formed as future physicians.

It breaks also the principle of equality and merit, which has hitherto governed, with excellent results for Murcia society, access to studies with a profile of dedication and commitment as individual as those of medicine.

So far accessed it solely according to the note, from now there will be students with lower grades, but with sufficient financial resources to study medicine, while others, not having these, they can never practice this profession, despite their greater academic excellence.

Will the MIR, with its limited number of places and its high level of demand which, now, on an equal basis, establish the distinction, but when misused public resources used, also without any consideration.
