Campus of Social Development in Peru UCAM 2012 (16/07/2012)

A group of volunteers, including students, staff services at the Catholic University San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) and other volunteers outside the UCAM, has departed this morning from the campus to Madrid from where they fly to Lima (Peru).

Once there, they will develop various volunteer work until 17 August in Pachacutec (province of Callao), Lima, and Iquitos (on Amazon).

This voluntary activity organized by the Institute of Charity and Volunteer John Paul II (IICV) celebrates its seventh edition.

Volunteers will develop three fundamental tasks: promoting social, medical, childcare and unprotected.

To achieve its objectives and with these activities, they also develop various social workshops on health education, literacy activities, communication and new technologies, construction, social exclusion and discrimination, growth and evangelism.

The director of the Institute of Charity and Volunteer John Paul II (IICV), Antonio Alcaraz, who also participated in the expedition as a volunteer, explains that "the work of education is the most important because it is the basis to develop a life job. "

He adds that "the work of the volunteer should not rely on bring the meal for a few days but taught to earn that plate of food to survive and give them a hope of life."

Antonio Alcaraz, has detailed that "although this year we have World Youth Day, we will live, as in other editions, shocking experiences like all voluntary activities we do. We have met young people who has changed their life , young people who needed help and have found these activities: through an encounter with people who have no minimum to live subhuman experiencing social situations, children in situations of greatest risk and unhealthy ... All this has helped understand and consider the life of a more humane way. "
