A student at the University of Murcia won first prize at an international congress animal reproduction (28/06/2012)

The PhD student at the University of Murcia Algarra Oñate White has won the first prize at the XI International Congress of the Spanish Association of Animal Reproduction (AERA) for a communication on the swine oviductina.

The work done with the PhD student Nicolas and Carla Moors led by Professor Manuel Aviles, studies the role of a protein called oviductina and its interaction with the shell of the egg, the zona pellucida.

With the results of the investigation, in which schools collaborate and Veterinary Medicine, University of Murcia, is expected to lead to new ways of application, assist in reproduction biotechnology and improve reproductive techniques in the future.

Algarra White, a former student of Masters in Biology and Reproduction Technology Mammal, currently working on her PhD on the molecular basis involved in fertilization in mammals, particularly swine, in the Department of Cell Biology and Histology Murcia educational institution.

The AERA conference is an event that aims to bring together leading international researchers and create a space to present and discuss national researchers can show and share their progress and work.
