The ACCESS program allows more than one thousand people formalize a labor contratato in the last twelve years (13/06/2012)

Almost 3,000 people (2,994) have been served by the program ACCESS, have developed 88 training activities, of which 659 persons have benefited and 1,052 have been formalized employment contracts, 68% of which are for gypsies, some data themselves aware of the relevance of the program.

The councilors of Employment and Social Welfare, José María Tortosa and María del Carmen Pelegrin, respectively, attended the presentation this morning LOG Report 2000-2012, a presentation that took place in the Moneo building of the City of Murcia.

These are some of the data from the study to be conducted on that program that was launched in 2000, as the FSG Murcia included in its scope by signing a cooperation agreement with Regional Administration and the Municipality of Murcia for the development of ACCESS Program, aimed at the promotion of the Roma people, through their training and labor integration, something that meant at that time one of the most significant gaps in the policy development social unfolded with the Gypsy, being, however, one of the essential aspects for integration and to complement other lines of action that were being developed.

But the work has not been alone in this.

Considering the relevance of the integration of women or education of minors or the fight against social prejudices, has led to important awareness campaigns and the development of projects and actions developed in close collaboration with the services municipal social.

The fight against truancy, child poverty, especially significant in this sector of the population, school enrichment programs or educational promotion of Roma children are some aspects of the work performed for the future of Roma, not support the same burdens that have endured so far and future options and opportunities that many have been denied.

I appreciate sincerely the enormous work in these 12 years FSG has developed in our town, his apparent willingness to cooperate, to coordinate closely with local government and involvement in the development of social policies from the City of Murcia's get started.

But I feel obliged to note that despite the achievements, we can not lower our guard.

We live in difficult times for everyone if they are, even more so for those who start from a disadvantaged or who were already struggling.

Consolidate the achievements to date and avoid any setback is an objective in itself, remembering that one must continue in such essential aspects as improving the processes of schooling, improved school performance, reduced absenteeism, failure or dropout, the promotion of Roma women, improving the conditions of access to housing, the development of Gypsy associations and, of course, entry into employment with adequate training.

They are all essential goals and the best way to dispel the stereotypes and prejudices that still weigh on this group.
