IU-Green believes that the reform will generate transport "discrimination" between the neighbors (06/06/2012)

The IU-Green spokesman in Murcia, Esther Herguedas, said today that the new bus contracts, which will affect only the lines that run through the village, and the division of responsibilities for public transport between the city and the Community "will generate a discrimination between citizens and others depending on where they reside."

Herguedas regretted that the city of Murcia has been limited to addressing the problem of its own contracts, instead of trying to influence the scope of the Public Transport Authority (EFA) to seek a rational and coordinated city-wide, including the districts.

The mayor has said that the most affected are the residents of the districts, which will suffer an "unfairness" for those living in the city center because those will have to pay more per ticket and they will not benefit from the advantages of the combined ticket bus and tram.

This, added the age of the buses, because while some of the route are the districts have 20 years, traversing the center can not have more than ten years as stipulated in the contract of service with the new company dealership.

"From October 1-day that begins the new urban bus concession will be a real discrimination between citizens living in the center and those living in the districts, which is unacceptable since the mobility needs are for all the same. "
