The City Council is working with Caritas in their child-care center and the host project for immigrants (06/06/2012)

The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Murcia is working with Caritas Association of Murcia for the development of Shelter and Child Care (CAYAM) and the draft Housing first and second reception for immigrants in exceptional situation.

The Welcome Centre and Child Care aims to strengthen the educational and training process of the child, involving the family and support management activities and encouraging approach to recreational and educational resources.

It is divided into several sections as a project Seguesca - playful and manual activities, tutoring and summer camps, involving a total of 20 children, the absenteeism Classroom project with activities such as workshops, computer, tutoring and camps summer-with the participation of 20 children, and nursery school with 52 children.

Children are mainly Roma and immigrants from Morocco, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Nigeria, Russia, Bulgaria, from neighborhoods and districts of Murcia.

The draft Housing first and second reception for immigrants is to provide a first host and humanitarian care necessities to people or immigrant families, in exceptional situation, adopting measures to facilitate their social integration, covering the basic needs of residence, health , education, maintenance, and providing support services to adapt to their new situation.

In the case of children, facilitating their socio-school public schools closer to home, reinforcing their study habits and are taught to live free time in creative and playful.

And basic needs of clothing, food and general maintenance of the foster children in Reception Temporary Housing for Families, to achieve full integration of these social and educational level.

The main activities performed in the reception and sheltered housing accommodation, daily supervision and maintenance of the floors of housing, support in seeking second homes, home visits, monitoring and supervision of foster homes and primary care accommodation, food and clothing, pharmaceutical benefits, financial assistance and transport urgently needed.

The Governing Board has approved a grant of 195,000 euros for Caritas.
