IU-Green Murcia is preparing a regulation of citizen participation that allows the direct election of representatives of municipal boards of neighborhoods and districts, and calls for increased spending to address the problems of the city.

This has been stated the coordinator of IU-Greens in Murcia, Francisco Muñoz, and Councilman Jose Ignacio Tornel, who have opted for participatory democracy as "a space for interaction between citizens, political representatives and technical staff."

Muñoz explained that the agency responsible for the preparation of regulation is the area of ​​decentralization, newly created by the organization to "the residents to participate directly in the political life of their neighborhoods and districts."

In this regard, said that municipal councils have not met the goal of bringing politics to the citizens, but "has imposed a barrier to information, emerging a clique of friends who decide on initiatives."

"Boards were born to a proposal made by IU 25 years ago, when the PSOE ruled in the municipality, but we have been deceived all this time since there has been quite the opposite, a departure from the neighbors to political life" she added Muñoz.

For his part, Jose Ignacio Tornel reported that IU-Green has created an area for economic development of the city in collaboration with trade unions and social actors in order to "promote open and plural participation" of citizens in the affairs public.

Tornel recalled that in the last session of incorporation of the City of Murcia Mayor, Miguel Angel House, proposed the creation of a special municipal committee on community development, which eventually formed three months ago.
