A team of four students from the University of Murcia and one of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has submitted the proposal winner of European citizens' initiative, which organized the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
The competition consisted of the development of regulatory proposals aimed at the European Commission on any subject of interest to young people within the framework of European Union competence and could be subject to citizen initiative under Article 11 of EU Treaty.
The winning initiative, developed by Peter Andrew Llor Martinez, Ernesto Sanchez Lopez, Jose Antonio Piornos Martinez, Edmundo Jose Garcia Linares, all from the University of Murcia, and Jesus Vicente Martinez, of the Polytechnic, propose changes in European regulations for the conservation natural areas affected by the navigation of motor vehicles.
Students have justified his initiative by the fact that current regulations are entirely outdated compared to other similar regulations, the fragility of lakes and rivers to the pollutants generated by motor vehicles and need to sensitize the public on the use of clean energy in the transport sector.
Later this year, students will travel to Brussels to hand deliver the proposal to the President of the European Commission.
