The Association MIAS Murcia choose to begin the journey that annually makes about Ibn Arabi (07/05/2012)

The coordinator of the Municipal Center Puertas de Castilla of the City of Murcia, Marta Lopez Briones, and the Doctor of Philology, Professor of Arabic and the University of Murcia, Pablo Beneito have offered a lecture at Worcester College of Ibn Arabi and his presence in Murcia City, his hometown, as the municipality participated in the first International Congress of Ibn Arabi.

On the other hand, acknowledged the presence of the invitation by the University of Oxford to the 29 th Congress on the figure of Sufi mystic.

There was also talk of IBAFF and the idea that the Film Festival Murcia City bore the name of Ibn Arabi by:

- The need to claim that Ibn Arabi was born in Murcia and began his journey here.

- The festival is committed contemporary cinema but without giving up the tradition of the city itself.

- And the theme of "Travel and creating" the festival connected with the teachings of the master visionary.

Finally, it was agreed that the trip that year made the members of the University with the University of Berkeley, and members of prestigious universities like the Sorbonne in Paris, Stanford, Harvard, etc.., Begin this year in the city of Murcia.

The Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society (MIAS) was founded in 1977 to promote greater awareness of the work of Ibn Arabi and his followers.

This association is based in Oxford (England) and a branch in Berkeley (California) and one in Murcia (Spain).

Website (www.ibnarabisociety.org) provides news and announcements of events, and also provides information about some publications that are made in this field.

It has about 150 translations and articles published in the journal of the Association and other sources.

The association aims MIAS Spain multidisciplinary study of the figure and legacy of this master.

For this purpose, is based in the Castile Gate Cultural Center, a branch of the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society (MIAS) in Oxford.
