The square of the Aurora improve your lighting with lights similar to Gran Via Romea (06/05/2012)

The Department of Urban Quality to install metal halide creating a more pleasant viewing experience

The Department of Urban Quality and Infrastructure, who runs Ana Martinez Vidal, will address the improvement of lighting in the Plaza of Aurora at the turn of the lights in the area, in addition to providing a light more effectively to maintain a significant energy savings.

This will also provide greater security to the plaza, where the arcades will receive more light when installing the new bulbs.

The lighting shall be installed in the square and Gran Via Romea, so that also unifies the environment.

The councilor explained that with the replacement of sodium vapor lamps for other metal halide of the same power (150 watts), (which consume less, live longer and provide less light pollution) and the commissioning disconnected points achieved a significant increase visual comfort in the square.

Metal halide lamps emit white light versus yellow light of sodium vapor lamps.

Being a light closer to natural light for pedestrians feel more comfortable, because you can distinguish real color tones, thus improving the level of visual acuity.

The lighting of the Plaza de la Aurora was renewed in 2009, suppressing the light points located in the center of the square, with two balloon-type fixtures to 4 meters high, replacing them with projectors attached to the facade, sodium vapor of 150 watts.

Then they gave light to the arcades of the square, metal halide projectors 70 watts, and replaced the existing balloons in the passage that connects the square with the Gran Vía metal halide projectors.

Earlier in the streets of Aurora and Aurora Arc, had replaced the globe style lamps, producing light pollution by luminaries like with the upper opaque and therefore clean.

Thus, the current installation has been configured as follows:

- General lighting of the square: 11 projectors Sodium Vapour 150 W

- Lighting arcades: 9 floodlights of 70 W Metal Halide

- Lighting ticket to Gran Vía: 4 projectors 70 W Metal Halide

- Street Lighting and Street Aurora Aurora Arch: 11 balloons Sodium Vapour 100 W
