A Street Neighborhood Progress has today named Pepe Cure Tornel (04/05/2012)

A street in the Barrio del Progreso remember forever the Priest Tornel Pepe, one of his most popular and beloved residents of this town.

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, presided this afternoon the official ceremony in which the plate has been discovered today that indicates the name of the street, located at the confluence of the River Jordan and Society streets.

Joseph Tornel Martinez, a native of Neighborhood Progress, is since 2000 pastor of St. Rose of Lima of Los Rosales, in the hamlet of El Palmar.

Long known for its social commitment to the disadvantaged, having considered Perito Mercantil, Joseph Tornel started working in a shop selling bicycles, while integrated in the parish of Santiago El Mayor.

At 24 he entered the seminary of El Salvador, late vocations, and began his work of evangelization.

His first appointment was as curate in Calasparra (1969-74), where he combined his priestly work a job as a bricklayer.

With the completion of this stage, returns to Barrio del Progreso and began working in the Chamber of Urban Property and the National Geographic Institute.

As a neighbor, Joseph Tornel involved in the creation of the Neighborhood Association of Murcia and supports various social movements, including the Platform for the Undergrounding of the railway, until the adoption of the new General Plan which included this demand.

The Cure Tornel Pepe has always been tied to a parish, first at Our Lady of Patino Fuensanta and then James Major, where he made the apostolic mission of Counsellor of HOAC in the Diocese of Cartagena, in addition to religion classes in Jose Moreno school.

In the last twelve years is pastor of St. Rose of Lima of Los Rosales.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2005, wanted to share his experience through the book "Power of Hope", just as he has told two stories - "From Quitapellejos James the Greater" and "Progress of the Frog: History of a neighborhood "- on the future of both neighborhoods.
