Portugal is the guest on this edition, which presents as a new cycle of three concerts at the Teatro Circo de Murcia, offered by Rodrigo Leão, Michael Nyman and Wim Mertens

The painter Antonio Ballester Murcia is the author of the work that illustrates the XIII International Festival poster for Tolerance Murcia Three Cultures, which is based on the original idea of ​​Jorge Fin-creator of the first poster of the festival to represent the palm, olive and cypress as symbols of the Three Cultures.

For this occasion, Ballester, whose painting addresses both the abstract and the figurative, expressionistic style takes to create a simple composition, clean and well defined colors.

The painter has opted to use three shades of green to shape the main figures, underlining the central composition with a strip of magenta that "sustains and vibrates the whole work," he qualifies.

The image of the trees of the Three Cultures is the common basis on which they have designed the poster for other editions of artists Jorge Fin, Pedro Cano, Jose Lucas, Alfonso Albacete, Angel Mateo Charris, Willy Ramos, FCG, Miguel Fructuosus Muher, Pedro Serna, Mengual Martinez and Antonio Sanchez.

A manufacturer of images

Antonio Ballester is a multidisciplinary artist who is defined as "a maker of images" and believes that any form can become art.

Born in Paris in 1952, after passing through the ESAG (École Supérieure dart Graphique in Paris), extended its activity to photography, painting, sculpture and graphic and industrial designs.

The gallery of Murcia Chys met his first solo show in 1975 and then started a long history of exhibitions in different cities.

He has exhibited several times in Madrid, in the gallery Seiquer and three times in ARCO, though so more is remembered especially for his project is One car show (1996-2004), in the Church of Murcia Veronicas.

Also noteworthy is its exposure A chair and two painters, a solo exhibition of 2010 in which Ramón Gaya honored in the museum, on the centenary of his birth.

Currently, Ballester shows part of his work in a full exhibition entitled Le Chien vert (green dog, in French), which is open until late March at the White Foundation Pedro Cano.

Two intense weeks

The XIII International Festival for Tolerance Murcia Three Cultures will take place over two intensive weeks, from 14 to 26 May.

The programming of the first week includes theater performances, exhibitions, film screenings, seminars and literature, among other activities.

The second week will be devoted to music and dance, with free outdoor events to be held in the main streets and squares of the city and in different cultural spaces.

Strengthening ties with Portugal

Portugal has been chosen as the guest of the thirteenth edition.

Thus, we have tried to strengthen ties with neighboring and historically close, with which there is a brotherhood and a number of cultural affinities.

Another reason for this choice is the fact that the fado, the music style that best embodies the Portuguese fatalism, has been declared by UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity, recognizing its value as an expression of cultural identity of a people .

Portuguese Fado achieved this distinction in November 2011, just a year after I did the flamenco, thus leaving the two twinned Peninsula countries also recognized worldwide for its genuine musical manifestations.

In Murcia Three Cultures Festival can see how the fado allows creative interaction with other musical traditions alive.

In addition, programming will include concerts of folk music and Portuguese-date.

On the other hand, besides music and Portuguese culture, this edition will feature artists from countries such as Germany, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Cuba, Mexico, Russia, Sahara, France and Senegal, among others.

The Circus Theatre joins the 'circuit' of the Festival

One of the main novelties of this edition is the inclusion in the 'circuit' Festival a new scenario: the Teatro Circo de Murcia, recently recovered a stage that has found a place in the cultural and, because of its proximity and excellent programming, and has the support of viewers Murcia.

Murcia Circus Theatre will host 21 to May 23, the series 'Concert for Tolerance', which will feature performances by three musicians renowned for his musical career and for his work on the blending of various arts.

Three artists who are united by one passion: writing music for film and research in the fusion of classical music with sounds of the world: the Portuguese Rodrigo Leão, Michael Nyman English and Belgian Wim Mertens.

Tickets to these three 'Concert for Tolerance'-the only payment activities throughout the Festival, can be purchased at the Circus Theater box office in www.ticketmaster.es and usual points.

The price of admission for each concert is 15 euros (plus booking fee), and apply a 20% discount if you buy all three together at the box office.
