Serna: "We want the City Council vote and speak out publicly on the proposed Old Jail" (20/02/2012)

Murcia UPyD presented for a vote in plenary on Thursday several initiatives to improve transparency and reviving the economy of the municipality, as the project of rehabilitation of the former provincial prison.

The Municipal Progress and Democracy Union in the city of Murcia submitted for municipal vote in Parliament in February a series of motions which are cornerstones transparency and economic improvements.

Specifically, Murcia UPyD spokesman, Ruben Serna, presented for the initiative vote rehabilitation and upgrading of the Old Jail.

This project aims, on one hand, stimulate the economy and tourism of the municipality, and also to value a building and land nestled in the heart of the city, which are currently completely unused and abandoned.

As emphasized Serna, "we want the government team to rule publicly on whether you are for this project which aims to stimulate economic activity, create jobs, support the traditional trade and revitalize the center of Murcia and tourism."

Another initiative proposed by UPyD Murcia is the said to improve local communication and transparency, calling for Motions and Questions can be answered in Parliament.

Currently, for various reasons, these are either not answered or are in too late, and even with little or no accurate answer what is asked.

This initiative aims to have the security that will be answered in plenary municipal publicly assuming an improved service to citizens.

For his part, Councilman Jose Antonio Sotomayor pose for a vote an initiative to improve procedures for companies that provide municipal services.

With this proposed improvement, it is intended that the administrative authority or professional body to certify the possibility of providing a service as the law currently mark can only be made before a notary, so that procedures are excessively expensive.
